Job Description

Rose Brooks Center, a non-profit domestic violence agency, seeks a Housing Navigator whose primary role is to provide step by step support to survivors of domestic violence who present to the region’s Coordinated Entry System (CES) for homelessness diversion and housing assistance. This position is responsible for conducting outreach to, and coordinated entry assessments with, survivors at Rose Brooks Center, at other victim service agencies, and at other coordinated entry access points. The person in this position will provide assistance through all stages of the housing process (housing search, application, inspection and placement) to survivors referred through or diverted from the coordinated entry system. Other responsibilities include identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with local property managers/owners to help mitigate barriers to housing and expedite housing placement. The Housing Navigator reports to the Director of Housing and Economic Advocacy.

  • Maintain awareness about the risks of secondary trauma and understand one’s own responsibility of self-care.
  • Attend scheduled staff, team, and supervision meetings.
  • Participate in all required trainings.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Two years of case management experience, preferably in a domestic violence agency and/or commensurate experience
  • Knowledge of domestic violence and familiarity with strengths-based perspective
  • Demonstrated skills in time management, organization and prioritization
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others, both internally and externally
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with community partners
  • Proficient use of Windows operating system and programs        
  • Ability to maintain accurate, timely documentation of services
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or related field or commensurate work experience
  • Two years’ advocacy experience
  • Experience in crisis response and working with survivors of domestic/sexual violence trauma
  • Knowledge of Department of Housing and Urban Development guidelines preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
WORK HOURS:
This is a full-time, exempt position (average of 40 hours per week), which may require some evening hours to accommodate participants’ schedules.  Some weekend hours may be necessary.  This position requires the ability to share a workspace/office environment with others.

Compensation:This position falls into a salary range starting at $46,000 annually (exempt).
